Elect Curry Commissioner Lynn Coker

Proven Leadership. Delivering Local Results.
Curry County Commissioner Lynn Coker announced today that he will seek to retain his seat on the Board of Commissioners, Position 1, in the May 2026 nonpartisan primary, pledging to continue providing steady, community-first leadership focused on financial sustainability; strengthening and improving county service delivery; supporting criminal justice, law enforcement, and offender rehabilitation; advancing economic development, housing and land-use modernization; and restoring trust in county government.
Appointed to the Board of Commissioners in May 2025,
Coker has earned a reputation for calm, practical, and results-driven leadership. Drawing on his experience as a Fortune 50 executive, an entrepreneurial small-business owner, and 25-year volunteer addiction-recovery coach, Coker entered public service with a commitment to strengthen county accountability, transparency, and stability during a period of significant fiscal and administrative challenges.
A Record of Fiscal Responsibility and Balanced Budgets
During his first year on the Board, Coker championed financial accountability and transparency, helping advance fiscal initiatives that produced balanced budgets, strengthened oversight, and built a foundation for long-term sustainability and growth.
“Curry County families expect responsible budgeting and dependable services.
My focus is always on practical solutions and local results that people can see and feel. Nowhere is that focus needed
more than on Curry County roads, bridges and other essential infrastructure,” Coker stated.
Addressing Housing and Modernizing Land-Use Rules
Coker emphasized that Curry County cannot thrive without modern, achievable housing strategies. He will continue to invest his leadership energy to simplify processes, expand opportunities for working families, and align public and private land-use planning with community needs and economic development.
Restoring Trust, Accountability, Transparency, Stability, and Professional Governance
Coker’s campaign centers on rebuilding confidence in county government through transparency, accountability, and steady leadership.
“The people of Curry County deserve local government that is stable, responsive, and community-first. That will continue to guide every decision I make.”
Strong Commitment to Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Rehabilitation
Coker emphasized that community wellbeing and effective public safety requires more than slogans—it requires steady leadership, responsible funding, and respect for the professionals who serve on the front lines.
He has consistently supported county law enforcement, corrections staff, and emergency responders by advocating for operational stability, clear governance roles, departmental accountability and transparency, coupled with responsible oversight—while also recognizing the importance of rehabilitation and prevention for adult offenders, juveniles, and at-risk individuals.
“Public safety is a stewardship responsibility,” Coker stated. “That means supporting law enforcement and corrections professionals, ensuring facilities and systems function properly, and investing in rehabilitation and intervention pathways that reduce risk of repeated harm and strengthen community safety.”
Based on 13-years providing volunteer rehabilitation services within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Coker’s approach reflects an experienced and balanced philosophy: firm accountability paired with practical rehabilitation strategies that protect the public while offering pathways toward offender recovery, rehabilitation, and stability .
Commitment to Veterans and Community Well-Being
Coker has been an active advocate for veterans, including development of a county-wide crisis and stabilization pathway for those facing mental-health or life-threatening emergencies.
“Supporting our veterans is not optional—it is a moral obligation.
Their service deserves our service in return.
” A Family Commitment to “Doing Good in the Neighborhood”
Coker notes that public service is rooted in family values:
“Serving on the Board of Commissioners is a family commitment.
Our family motto is simple: "Doing Good in the Neighborhood.
It guides how we live and how I lead.”
A Steady Hand for Curry County’s Future
Coker says his campaign will focus on practical solutions, respectful collaboration, and professional management of county responsibilities.
“This campaign is not about politics—it’s about enhancing our community. Curry County deserves proven leadership that delivers local results. I’m committed to continuing that work.”
