Curry County Commissioner Lynn Coker announced today his intention to retain his seat on the Board of Commissioners, Position 1, in the upcoming May 2026 nonpartisan primary. He is committed to continuing his community-first leadership, which emphasizes financial sustainability, enhancing county service delivery, supporting criminal justice and law enforcement, promoting offender rehabilitation, advancing economic development, modernizing housing and land-use practices, and restoring trust in county government.

Since his appointment to the Board of Commissioners in May 2025, Lynn Coker has built a reputation for calm, practical, and results-driven leadership. With a background as a Fortune 50 executive, a small-business owner, and a 25-year volunteer addiction-recovery coach, Coker entered public service to strengthen Curry County’s accountability, transparency, and stability during challenging fiscal times.

A Record of Fiscal Responsibility and Balanced Budgets

In his first year on the Board, Coker championed financial accountability and transparency, promoting fiscal initiatives that led to balanced budgets, enhanced oversight, and a sustainable foundation for growth. 

“Curry County families expect responsible budgeting and dependable services. My focus is always on practical solutions and local results that the community can see and feel. This is especially critical for Curry County’s roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure,” Coker stated.

Addressing Housing and Modernizing Land-Use Rules

Lynn Coker highlighted that Curry County cannot thrive without contemporary housing strategies. He will continue to dedicate his leadership efforts to simplifying processes, expanding opportunities for working families, and aligning public and private land-use planning with community needs and economic development.

Coker’s campaign aims to rebuild confidence in Curry County’s government through transparency, accountability, and consistent leadership. 

“The people of Curry County deserve a local government that is stable, responsive, and community-first. That principle will guide every decision I make,” he said.

Strong Commitment to Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Rehabilitation

Coker emphasized that community wellbeing and effective public safety require more than slogans; they need steady leadership, responsible funding, and respect for the professionals serving on the front lines. He has consistently supported county law enforcement, corrections staff, and emergency responders, advocating for operational stability, clear governance roles, and departmental accountability, while also recognizing the importance of rehabilitation and prevention for adult offenders, juveniles, and at-risk individuals.

“Public safety is a stewardship responsibility,” Coker stated. “This means supporting law enforcement and corrections professionals, ensuring facilities and systems function properly, and investing in rehabilitation and intervention pathways that reduce the risk of repeated harm and enhance community safety.”

Based on 13 years of providing volunteer rehabilitation services within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Coker’s approach embodies a balanced philosophy: firm accountability combined with practical rehabilitation strategies that safeguard the public while offering pathways toward recovery and stability for offenders.

Commitment to Veterans and Community Well-Being

Coker has actively advocated for veterans, including the development of a county-wide crisis and stabilization pathway for those in mental health or life-threatening emergencies. 

“Supporting our veterans is not optional—it is a moral obligation. Their service deserves our service in return.”
